【摘要】:Hydrogenisevolvedduringmetalelectrodepositioninaqueousbaths.Someofthishydrogenenterspartsduringplating.Iftheabsorbedhydrogenisatalevelpresentingembrittlementhazardstohigh-strengthsteel,itisremovedbybakingpartsafterplatingtoexpelthishydrogen.However,thelackofplateporosityitselfmayblockhydrogenegress.Thus,itbecomesimportanttoknowboththerelativeamountofhydrogenabsorbedandtheplateporosity.Thistestprovidesaquantitativecontrolnumberforcadmiumplateporositythatcanbeusedtocontrolacadmiumplatingprocessandthestatusofcadmium-platedhardware.Itcanalsobeusedforplatingprocesstroubleshootingandresearchanddevelopmenttodeterminetheeffectsonplateporositybyprocessvariables,contaminants,andmaterials.Whenusedtocontrolacriticalprocess,controlnumbersforplateporositymustbedeterminedbycorrelationwithstressrupturespecimensorotheracceptablestandards.Thereisnoprimestandardforplateporosity.Forthisreason,twoovensmustbeused,withtestsalternatedbetweenovens.Datafromtheovensarecomparedtoensurenoequipmentchangehasoccurred.1.1Thistestmethodcoversanelectronichydrogendetectioninstrumentprocedureformeasurementofplatingpermeabilitytohydrogen.Thismethodmeasuresavariablerelatedtohydrogenabsorbedbysteelduringplatingandtothehydrogenpermeabilityoftheplateduringpostplatebaking.Aspecificapplicationofthismethodiscontrollingcadmium-platingprocessesinwhichtheplateporosityrelativetohydrogeniscritical,suchascadmiumonhigh-strengthsteel.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatement,seeSection8.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.
